to teach us to cook with lemon grass. lemon grass is something we often eat in restaurants but we don't know how to use ourselves. >> so there's two ways of using it. they come like this. i like to use a mallet or a hammer like this. and you see this little edge, so you want to keep banging this. what i'm doing here, is i'm just getting fibers loose. so when you have this -- >> may i try that? >> certainly. >> oh, boy. good way to get your aggression out. >> you want to use basically this nice juicy part. the green part is not nearly as flavorful. and what you do, you use it to infuse a broth like this. this is a simple lemon grass soup. i want you to try a little bit. and you'll see that there's large pieces of lemon grass which i actually like to place with it so people realize there's lemon grass there. you don't want to eat that, because it's so tough. but you can really taste that, right? >> my gosh, it's fantastic. and how long when you cook it? >> that's just 30 minutes. >> and that just really adds to the soup. that is amazing, i've got to say. is it easy to find lemon grass?

. anne makovec is at san quentin prison in marin county to tell us why. >> reporter: if the plan that was in effect on monday would have stuck, albert greenwood brown would be dead right now but he is alive behind me at san quentin this morning because of a decision by a federal judge last evening. brown would have been california's first execution in almost five years, but judge fogel suspended the execution until he finishes reviewing a lawsuit against california's lethal injection procedure. concerns that it's cruel and unusual punishment. if the first of three drugs administered doesn't work properly, the inmate could suffer extreme pain from the third drug which stops the heart. the family of brown's victim just wants it over with. here's her brother speaking about what it was like after his 15-year-old sister disappeared. >> i remember getting in the truck with my father and... always gets us there... ... sometimes it just takes us a little longer to get back. ♪ a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza back up to the macarthur maze. there was an oil spill on the upper deck after a bus lost its transmission. that's why we are so badly back up for this necommute. the meter and lights were turned on a very close to 6:00 a.m. you can see things are backed up let switchover showing you traffic trucker interstate 80 is backed up all along the glory short freeway. we are seeing indications of of back up in macarthur maze. let's back that out a bit you can see there ride coming down from the freeway is definitely slowing things. slow from children's hospital in the westbound direction. a big problem for this commute. you can see all approaches are born to be jammed for a while. let's take go look at another problem interstate 580 in the westbound direction the back up from 2 05 interchange through the altamont pass towards airway boulevard. that was where there was another spill. the traffic has moved much better through livermore. the problem is a back up reach

hernandez has reaction to this development. >> reporter: there are three drugs used during this execution. one of those drugs is becoming part of a problem that's the sedative. the sedative has an expiration date of this friday, october 1. that date is becoming an obstacle in the execution date. >> the courts have said there is no question that an unanecessary advertised execution is unconstitutional. it comes down to the delivery of the if first drug, the anesthetic, working the way it's supposed to. >> reporter: if the sedative set to expire is not used in the execution rescheduled for thursday, it's likely an execution would not be held until january of next year because the drug's makerred that the drug may not be available for a few months. an appeals court feared that expiration date may have hurried the decision of a federal judge to continue with the scheduled execution. the ninth u.s. circuit court of' peels told the judge last night he had to compare the new lethal injection's procedures to the state's former practices. the execution would be the first in nearly five years and t

that is blocking the right-hand lane. the 7:01 a.m. let us get up on the forecast right now. maybe we have cooler temperatures on >> the >> yes, we're looking at a cool down and in fact the temperatures are knocking down, ec all these clause here, we're stuck in the clouds roll into the inland spots bringing the temperatures down to. there are no more triple digits and it is starting to cool off and we're going to continue with a cooling trend throughout the rest of the workweek. here's a look out side read on how much of the temperatures that are expected to drop by 72 degrees cooler in san francisco in the same luster san rafael is clinton and about 12 degrees cooler. looking at about 12 and wrote redwood city. ms. cohen san francisco by 60 degrees and 56 degrees and oakland, it is one of the upper 60s in monday and into san roseanne as we work our way into the afternoon we should be getting up into the low 90s in some of these north base paths to santa rosa, of vallejo are getting into the upper 80s. it is good to be 86 in redwood city, 85 and the word and some of those twin locations like the
